This is the page where I post notes about what’s happening. I intend to keep the notes at least somewhat up to date. Then again, I intend to join the Procrastinator’s Club. Anyway, here’s the news:

My Calendar is Open for Bookings during the Winter

From January 1st though the end of April my calendar is wide open for bookings, including weekends. During this time my primary band, Mike Dugan & the Blues Mission, takes its annual winter hiatus as Mike spends the winter in Florida. We play some gigs in Florida, but for the most part I winter here in the Northeast.

A word of edification to our fans: Mike Dugan has built his 2nd passion, golf, into a 2nd job. His excitement about the dramatic impact of Natural Golf to his game was such that it inspired him to become a disciple of the Natural Golf™ method. He worked hard to put himself through golf school and become certified as a teaching pro. Mike now teaches golf, in addition to playing and teaching the guitar for a living. Mike spends the winter in Florida in order to avoid having to abandon his 2nd passion/job until spring. You just don’t get many golf students in the ice and snow, and you can play the guitar anywhere.

Wednesday night Jam at Raven’s Nest

Every Wednesday night there is a jam at the Raven’s Nest (215-536-5369), located at 625 Old Bethlehem Road, Quakertown PA 18951. The location is actually a few miles outside of Quakertown. For more information, click here.

This is one of the longest continually running jams around. The Raven’s Nest was built in 1710, has been licensed to serve food and spirits since 1750 and has been hosting its jam every Wednesday since 1989.

The jam runs from 8:00 to about 12:00. The genre is essentially blues and rock, but the boundaries are not strict. Backline is provided. Guitarist Todd Wolfe hosts the jam, along with Rob Fraser on bass and a guest drummer to complete the house band.

I don’t want to miss you ...

In the course of my work I meet so many people that I sometimes have trouble sorting out who is who. It can get downright embarrassing. I have momentarily forgotten the names of people that I’ve known all of my life. Please be aware that the filing system in my brain can get overloaded. If you come out to a gig and I don’t seem to realize that you are there, there may be several reasons. When I’m at a gig, I am working, and I must give full attention to my work. Even if I see you, I may not get to you because others may commandeer my time. And, alas, it’s even possible that I may not register right away who you are.

If you come to see me and I fail to acknowledge you, please come over and say “Hi”. I’m glad you came, and I would rather suffer the embarrassment of having you remind me who you are, than miss you.

Lehigh Valley Music Awards

I would like to extend thanks to all who supported me for the Best Bass Player award. With such a wealth of talent in the Lehigh Valley, I never expected such an honor. Striving to uplift spirits and impart a degree of beauty through music is my life’s work, and to imagine that my artistic endeavors are well received is extremely gratifying. God bless you all.
