Drummer
Don Plowman has left the Blues Mission (January 2007)
All things must pass and now, so too has Don Plowman’s tenure as the drummer for Mike Dugan & the Blues Mission. Don has been trying to squeeze his drumming gigs into his spare time, and that’s a tough horse to ride. During his twenty years with the U.S. Navy Band Don was a full-time musician, but now he has a full-time day job as a financial planner. Many is the time that Don has arisen early in the morning to go to work at his office, left work early to go to an out-of-town gig, and got home so late that he barely had time for a nap.
Don loved working with us, and we with him. But when an opening appeared for a drummer with The Craig Thatcher Band, an excellent local band that works almost exclusively on weekends and stays close to home, Don realized that God was trying to tell him something, and he suddenly found himself astonishing our friend and colleague Craig Thatcher by applying for the position.
It’s been a great ride, and we wish Don the best with his new endeavor. As for us, the timing was good because it gives us time to fill the position. We are seeking applicants and will be interviewing candidates. Anyone interested in applying for the position of drummer for Mike Dugan & the Blues Mission may

New CD from Mike Dugan & the Blues Mission - "Workin in the Rust
Belt"
(October 2005)
Top Shelf
Records of San Jose, California has issued
its second release featuring Mike Dugan & the Blues Mission.
“Workin’ in the Rust Belt” is a compilation culled from three
earlier Dugan CDs – “Workin”, “Blues from the Rust Belt” and
“Holy Live Blues”.
Polished by the
remastering skills of Mike Marino, the new compilation contains
chestnuts that are still being regularly requested by the band’s
long-time fans. Now, a new generation of fans will have the
opportunity to hear the music that inspired the critics to credit
Mike Dugan with having invented a new style of blues, adding the
term “Rust Belt Blues” to the lexicon.

sizzling blues guitar.” “Dugan's lead licks and arrangements are
always tasteful and polished, pulled off with surprising savvy
and chops for a relative unknown.” “Dugan plays the blues with
class and style that few others can muster.” |
